Besides being an ideal tranquil setting for our inn, RiverWood's strategic riverside setting provides a base for all your water adventure activities. Excellent canoeing and kayaking is available at you door step, in the same waters utilized by early settlers and native groups to reach the central Newfoundland & Labrador's wildlife and forests.

The nearby "mouth" or outflow into Halls Bay, locally dubbed "the bottom", meanders through a protected wetland area (Eastern Habitat Joint Venture) that ensures sighting of dozens of species of waterfowl, furbearer, and moose. Further along into Halls Bay, the rugged coastline displays spectacular cliffs, natural meadows, and islands, surely to delight and overwhelm.

Stroll, hike, bike or cross country ski along riverside pathways, or visit one of the many area attractions. Our strategic location offers easy access to an ever expanding trail system locally and regionally.

And don't forget the fishing!!! Indian River is a class 2 salmon river and boasts a good return of grilse year after year. The river extends more than 30 kilometers to its headwaters with a vast number and variety of pools throughout, and the ever popular Falls is a mere 2 km's upriver from the inn.
